How SaniLume works
UVC technology has been used in the health care industry for decades. That sanitizing technology is now available for schools, long-term care homes, retirement residences, offices – any place people gather.
SaniLume employs proprietary technology and a compact, modern design to direct UVC light above people’s heads. Our fixture amplifies air currents within the room and cycle the air through the germ-killing zone many times per hour.
Benefits of SaniLume
Aerosols are a threat
Aerosol droplets linger in the air for hours. Health Canada, the WHO, and CDC have all stated COVID-19 can be transmitted via aerosols.
UVC is known to neutralize pathogens
Used properly, UVC can inactivate bacteria and viruses. Germicidal UV (GUV) has been widely used for nearly 100 years. SaniLume improves traditional GUV technology, allowing for a 20’ x 20’ area to be disinfected about every 2 minutes.
Effective solution
The world’s main governing body for lighting (IES) states that “upper room air UVC is by far the most effective way to eliminate airborne pathogens.” With its proprietary technology, SaniLume fixtures are the most effective upper room air UVC units on the market.
People-Safe Pathogen Inactivation Zone
The SaniLume fixtures direct UVC light to a safe zone above the heads of anyone in the room. Rising convection currents are greatly amplified by our fixture, achieving ongoing disinfection as the air moves through the pathogen elimination zone many times per hour.
Continuous Air Flow and Disinfection
Ultra-quiet fans enable more than 25,000 cubic feet of air per hour to travel through the pathogen elimination zone, disinfecting a 400 sq. ft. room approximately every two minutes. Multiple fixtures can be used for larger spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does UV light disinfection work?
Commercial upper-room germicidal UV units continuously emit UVC light above people's heads, inactivating viruses, germs and bacteria. However, their effectiveness depends greatly on how well the room air is mixed with the UVC light.
Does UV-C kill the coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19?
UV disinfection does not technically “kill” viruses, since they are not living organisms. UVC light inactivates virus and bacteria by changing their DNA and RNA, destroying their ability to reproduce. According to Illuminating Engineering Society Report CR-2-20, UVC can effectively inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus, if the virus is directly illuminated by UVC at the effective dose level.
What businesses should consider SaniLume?
We suggest it as an added measure of safety for schools, retirement homes, long term care facilities, hospitals, gyms, work site trailers, and offices.
How does upper-room GUV work?
UVC light in the 254 nm spectrum has been used for decades as a scientifically proven method of pathogen disinfection in the upper areas of indoor spaces, above people’s heads. Up to 99% of common pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, mold spores and funguses are systematically eliminated
Can SaniLume be used in workplaces?
SaniLume has been tested and certified to be below the UV exposure guidelines for an 8-hour day used by nearly all health governing bodies around the world. SaniLume has also been safety certified to UL standards. Care must be taken that the UVC energy fields not be in any line-of-sight conditions of any room occupants.
How do I install SaniLume units?
SaniLume fixtures have a configuration like that of standard pendant light fixtures. The mounting and electrical hookup is essentially the same.
